After the first step of researching and preserving local medicinal plants, which took place on April 21, 2018, a local list of approximately 30 species of medicinal plants in the local language was completed. This activity continued on Saturday, May 19, 2018. This second step allowed to deepen the research and bring this number to about 70 thanks by the identification of certain plants through the presentation of their photos to the populations.
The photos of the medicinal plant samples contained in a reference document were presented to the local actors during this working session so that they identify through the photos the plants they remember. Identification work will continue to discover more plants. However, photos of already identified plants including those identified in the first phase will be presented in a document and made available to all local stakeholders involved in research for their harvest and conservation in a garden in the coming days. In the same way the expertise of a specialist in botany will be necessary to highlight the scientific nomenclature of the identified plants.
